GUILLERMO McGILL QUARTET
+ JOSETE I ANA SALAZAR
Cd launch 'Tan Cerca'
(Contrabaix 2008)
Uruguayan Guillermo McGill is performing his new record for the first time at the 27th Terrassa Jazz Festival: ‘Tan Cerca’, featuring original compositions that mainly feature jazz and flamenco, but also groove funky.
Having played the drums for top names such as John Abercrombie, Joe Pass, Enrique Morente and Chano Domínguez, McGill is introducing his own quartet with guitarist Israel Sandoval, saxophonist Martí Serra and bassist Josep Pérez Cucurella. On this occasion they are bringing along as guests the flamenco guitarist ‘Josete’ and singer and dancer Ana Salazar, who is known for both her own personal trajectory as a soloist – she is currently presenting her fourth album – and for supporting great artists such as Eva la Yerbabuena and Antonio Canales.
Together they will be offering us warm, intimate music with a profound interpretative sensitivity; a jazz that melds with other styles to create a dialogue with its own very unique personality.
