This year sees the twelfth Pícnic•Jazz event, featuring jazz and fun in the Vallparadís Park at the most popular and well-attended event of the Festival. From 11.00 in the morning right through to the evening there’ll be live music, a host of activities and a great atmosphere.

La Locomotora Negra, the doyenne of Catalan big band jazz, will be opening the party with swing, featuring the Big Mama of Catalan blues. The jazziest quartet with the New York-based Canadian singer, saxophonist and composer, Sheila Cooper, an elegant swing voice with the added bonus of great sax technique leading an ensemble with XXL rhythm: Albert Bover on piano, Masa Kamaguchi on bass and Jorge Rossy on drums. The presentation of the first album from Filthy Habits Ensemble gives us an insight to Zappa at his jazziest, with a highly apposite selection from the American musician’s huge repertoire. This compact band gives a slightly wild performance in homage to the showman that was Zappa. The closing performance is provided by New Orleans bluesman Larry Garner: a true master of Louisiana swamp blues and Texan style. A singer, guitarist and composer, this live music maestro has been honed by the local circuit in Baton Rouge. 100% blues to finish off the party. You’ll need to bring the rugs and picnics. We’ll be offering quality music and good vibes, the Record Fair and the fifth edition of Pixel•Jazz, the Park’s photography competition. Don’t miss it – and don’t forget that Spring starts on the 21st!
